Supported Platforms

Skipper works on all major operating systems. The application is distributed as an automatic installer or a zip archive. Both work as a standalone package, no additional libraries or installations are required.

Minimum requirements in detail

Windows. Skipper ships as a 32-bit, a 64-bit and a native ARM64 package. The ARM64 build runs on Windows on ARM devices without emulation. The packages use the Universal C Runtime provided by the system, which is part of Windows 10 and later.

macOS. Skipper ships as a single Universal 2 application that runs natively on Apple Silicon and on Intel Macs, so Rosetta is not needed. The Apple Silicon part requires macOS 11.0 or later, the Intel part requires macOS 10.13 or later.

Linux. Skipper ships as a 64-bit package that requires glibc 2.35 or newer. Any distribution that meets this runs Skipper, for example Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, Debian 12, Fedora 36 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 and their later releases.

Other operating systems

Skipper is currently available and tested on operating systems mentioned above. It is possible that you will be able to run Skipper on similar platforms but we cannot guarantee this. In case you are not able to run Skipper, let us know. If there is a large demand we will try to extend the support also for your OS.
